Reading and analysis of a text authored by Els de Graauw and Floris Vermeulen (2016) on the politics of integration in 4 cities. The students worked in groups (in simultaneous rooms) in order to answer to a set of questions about the politics of immigrant integration in the 4 cities.

Position of migrants in the EU labour market: main sectors of employment, differences between immigrant men and immigrant women. Figures from the Eurostat. Polarization of migrant workers. Low-skilled workers, Informal economy, Entrepreneurs, and High-skilled workers. The situation in the EU and in Portugal. Migration theories and how labour flows are interpreted.
